Our Teacher: Hi! My name is Holly DeYoung-Starkey. I am the teacher at Luv 2 Learn. I graduated from Purdue University, Lafayette with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and a Kindergarten Endorsement. I had my first teaching experience in a Readiness Classroom for a short time while filling in a maternity leave. After subsitute teaching for the rest of the year, I was hired to fill a First Grade position in the same school the next Fall.

I stayed in the same position teaching First Grade for eight years. I also taught summer school three summers, teaching First Grade and, a class I designed, called "Blast Off And Learn," It involved science, experimentation, and problem solving. I had students from Kindergarten through fifth grade in the classes. During my time at the Elementary School, I was the Director of the Computer Lab for two years, Chairman of two Science Fairs, and sat on numerous committees. All a great deal of fun.

However, after having my second baby, I decided it was time to stay home for awhile. I knew I would really miss teaching, so I came up with the perfect solution...open a preschool at my home! During the summer of 1999, my husband and I added a preschool addition to our home. I must also give credit to my father, a builder, and my mother, a great decorator and painter. Working from morning to night, we completed the preschool just in time for the 1999-2000 school year.

I love teaching, children, photography, the outdoors, gardening, science, animals, and crafting. I incorporate my loves into my teaching and classroom. I think I have a nack for helping children to become more creative and think for themselves.

Our first year was fabulous. I had so much fun. The children were wonderful. They each grew in so many ways over the year. Each child has a unique personality. I look forward to exploring the world through each child's eyes.
